AFRICAN RARE DISEASES INITIATIVE
"African Rare Disease Initiative (ARDI): Advancing genomic medicine through rare disease research in Africa".
Approximately 3.5 to 5.9% of the world's population is affected by a rare disease, which proportionally corresponds to 3.79 to 6.39 million people in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The ARDI project :
- Will build a national multidisciplinary network and develop tools for genomic medicine in the DRC.
- Will strengthen the human capacities of practitioners for better management of rare diseases in the DRC.
- Will generate knowledge by diagnosing rare diseases in families in DR Congo.
- Will share knowledge to advance genomic medicine globally.
